RICHARD ANTINUCCI STARTS ON THE OUTSIDE OF ROW 10 FOR TOMORROW'S INDY GRAND PRIX OF SONOMA

SATURDAY'S NOTES
The San Diego-based driver, who in the morning practice session had worked his way to P15 (1:18.4623, 105.866 mph) took the track in group 2 of qualifying. On primary tires he clocked a best lap of 1:18.8534 (105.242 mph) then swapped to the faster option tires, where he steadily improved until the chequered flag. His best lap was a 1:17.7500 (106.634 mph) which slotted him next to Watkins Glen winner Justin Wilson for tomorrow's race. Richard’s time was only 3/10ths of a second off the top twelve and just 1 second behind the polesitter of group 2.

""Qualifying went better for us, although the grid position doesn’t reflect this. Although the position is similar to those achieved at some of the previous rounds we made up ground from the Top 12 drivers - and that much desired second round of qualifications. Today our pace was worth 15th place overall, but given the nature of the split group sessions we lost those places simply due to the staggering effect. Far from bad if you take into account that thirteen drivers took part in the open test here last week, and were not among them. We expect to further raise our game tomorrow in the morning warm-up and ultimately the race. Due to the lack of track time and testing we're always playing catch-up and so we are always a few steps behind. For tomorrow I'm confident we’ll charge forward!"
